for Jewel's

I finished the quilt for my friend Jewel's.  It is just a lap quilt but I know how helpful that can be.  She has different chronic health problems, like I do, but the symptoms are similar.  I find that I like to curl up under the quilt I made the Tall Short Person 27 years ago.  I though Jewel's might like something to curl up under when tireds or aches going on.  Especially if there is a cup of tea and a book involved.  Maybe one of her littles can curl up under it with her.

I had scraps of Liberty of London prints and Civil War Era reproductions that made this quilt.  There are a few other prints but it is mostly those.  I really like how it all came together.  Now to get it into the mail.  That is the problem I have been having lately, getting things into the post.  Maybe even leaving the house.  I can be such a hermit.  But I need to go to the libraries and hardware store today.  I should be able to stop at the post office.

quiet weekend

It has been a quiet weekend.  There have been a few errands to run but I really wanted to work on Miss J's quilt.  I have other sewing projects I want to work on as well and am excited about but I would really like to be able to mail this off.

I got the back finished and the pinning/basting done.  All the time, I was listening to an audiobook from the library.

At this point, it is over half quilted.  I may get some more time at the sewing machine today.  I may not.  Sweet Small Mister is back from his Dad's and his Mom is working so we have him.  I also have a skating lesson and there is the possibility of a movie in our evening.

Quiet weekends are always quite full.

miss j's quilt top is together

The week we were back I needed to spend time at the sewing machine.  I decided to put Miss J's quilt top together.  I find a lot of peace at the sewing machine.  I am now working on the back.  More nine squares for me!  My Beloved likes the ones that end up on the back that do not have any white in them.  This week may mean that I start quilting.  Or not.  I need to work at the printing press too.

And there may be chest high surf late on Saturday and coolish early on Thursday.  Boat and surf boards may be coming out.  My truck is also fixed.  I have a working clutch and working a/c.  Life is nice right now.

baby nacho's quilt

Baby Nacho's quilt is done.  I had everything done but the binding done before vacation.  I finished that bit today listening to audio books.  I like my phone and the library for that reason.

I am pleased with how it turned out.  Every quilt is just a bit different and every step is different.  It was one of the main things I wanted to get done this weekend.  I find I do not have enough hours in the day for everything I wish to do.  Especially on a Saturday when I wake up slowly like I did today.  I just had a hard time waking up.

The top for Miss J's quilt is done too so the next step is working on the back. I really want to work on Nirinjan's quilt because she wanted linen and I have never done that.  I am going to make one for my rocking chair in silk after that.  Quilts take time but I love the meditation of the nine squares.

a bit of basting

I finished pinning Baby Nacho's quilt yesterday while watching the last of the Call of the Midwife episodes.  My Beloved will watch Downton Abbey but not these.  He was busy working yesterday afternoon so I had time to pin.  Small Mister was not with me either.  It went much faster without having to track down the saftey pins when I needed them!

Ready for stiching.  I am also less then 20 squares to the next quilt top.  I am going to cut out linen squares next.  My Beloved just cut the buttons off a linen shirt (it is the only way he will stop wearing them) so I hope to find some not so worn pieces of that for the next quilt.
