forever shawl half done

I had to share.  The most recent forever shawl is half way done.  I did not really feel very well today so my Beloved sat with me and we watched picture shows.

My allergies have caused an ear infection.  Sitting is a good thing.  When I sit, I do like to keep my hands busy so I work on this forever shawl.  I ordered more yarn today.  I am going to knit an afghan.  That is also good for keeping my hands busy!  I hope I am feeling better tomorrow.

quiet day

It has been a quiet week so far.  I have spent time working on big projects and this is one of them.  I am making an afghan for our truck.  I grew up with blankets in the automoblies and I always think there should be one.  The last one I made was just a tad too small.  Our best friend has it.  It will probably end up in a movie at some point.  A director has asked for Miss N's security blanket to be moved from the scene.

This will reside in the big red truck.  I usually work on it while we watch DVD's from the library.  Tonight, it was BBC's Pie in the Sky.  It does mean I will be making stead and something pie soon.  I probably will not wait for it to cool down even.

feeling fuzzy

I got home from work yesterday with a migraine.  My head hurt so bad that I feel asleep early and have felt fuzzy all day today.  It is why I did not write last night.  If I had written, you would have wondered what I meant!

I did get some weaving done.  It was frustrating because the upper selvage edge broke and my warp came loose.  I almost took my weaving down and made a placemat of it but I decided to keep going.  I fixed the warp so it is functional but not right.  I got another 1/2 inch woven today after working in the garden.  I will finish it.  I just need to make many mistakes on this weaving so the next one will be better.

I did get more scrubby cloths crocheted while we were watching Pie in the Sky.  I am using a heavy cotton string.  They are very stiff and hopefully will work well doing dishes.  Maybe they will hold up better then the ones I have already made.

If I feel better tomorrow, I will type out another ice cream recipe.  My head is still hurting.

grey shawl

My hands are usually busy while I am watching picture shows.  Like last night.  I was working on the edging of the shawl I was making.  I had only taken it out about six times and I took it out once more after this picture.

By the end of the night, it was finished.  It is not a large shawl but it covers me to about my waist and covers that most important spot between  my shoulder blades that gets cold.  I was wearing it at work today and ended up looking like a babushka because I was not feeling well.  I could have three shawls at work and be happy but I currently only have one that resides there.  

I think the next project will be a hat and mittens from yarn I spun.  I actually need to find more fiber I like so I can spin more.  I thought I might have enough of the next color but I do not think it will be enough for a shawl.

By the way, the cookies from yesterday are all gone.  That is how good they were.  

while traveling

My Beloved and I did more traveling this weekend.  He wanted to go to a knife show that was in a different city.  So for the car ride, I picked up a ball of yarn and a crochet hook and started another shawl.  I find it restful and I like my hands busy.  I have talked about this pattern before and it is coming out nicely in my homespun.  I was thinking that I will put a lacy edge on this one.  I saw an edge pattern in the latest Interweave Crochet that I am thinking about.

It does mean that I will have to spin more of this fiber.  Wahoo!  Spinning and weaving are things I really have wanted to do lately but I am still stitching.

I did get to weave after work today but no spinning.  Sigh.  A very large pot of chili was made and a run to the library.  It was a good evening.
