camisole

On our last trip to Oregon, I picked up lots of yarn.  I actually picked up a bit of the Cascade yarns Ultrapima.  It is a 100 percent cotton and really nice to work with.  About then, I started making a camisole.  This was in October and i could not find any pictures of that even though I am fairly sure that I took them.

Today, as I was waiting for the plumber, I finished it.

It really does not look much not on.  I used a single crochet and ribbed it all the way around so it is very fitted but covers everything.  I could have probably used a smaller hook but the one I had worked well.

I finished the edges with a single crochet which left them a bit fluttery.  All the goes with the territory.

But here it is on, not that you can tell.  I really like how it fits.  I may take a bit in under the arms but that goes with the territory in making something new.  The Tall Short person says it is pretty and looks good on me!

The plumbing you ask, toilet in the back of the house backed up into the shower.  Wonderful birthday present since I do not use a flushing toilet.  Tomorrow will be better.

baby hats and madness of flannel.....

This is the last of the baby gift for the Tall Short Person's friend.  Two baby hats.  They are a silvery green and a silvery blue.  The blue is smaller then the green and both are made of cotton.  It was actually what I was doing last night instead of blogging.  My Beloved had to close the store so I sat and watched a picture show after the library and crocheted.  Sometimes that is just what you have to do.

I have also been doing a bit of weaving after work.  With where my loom sits, it is much easier to weave when the sun is out.  We have had a few rainy days and it has been hard.

I did go a little mad at the fabric store when it came to flannel.  It was $1.99 a yard.  I will show you what I make of it as I go.  My Beloved already helped me start cutting it out.  Two hands do really make the work go faster.  Or maybe it is the laughter.  We do so like to laugh.

busy quiet weekend

This weekend was busily quiet.  I spent time in the kitchen, sewing, and in the garden.  The strawberries are blooming so I would say spring is here.  You cannot tell by my garden though because the beds are just dirt.  I am currently double digging so they are ready for plants.

I bought flowers at the farmer's market just for another hint of spring.  They are beautiful and are wonderful company in the kitchen.

I was requested to make another skull cap for my Beloved.  He wanted cotton and let him go through the cotton yarns in my knitting bowl to decide what he wanted.  The main body is a pale grey green and the edge is a grey blue.  He likes how it turned out.  I need to make a similar one for a newborn that is a friend of the tall short person.  More on those presents later.  I did say busy even though it was quiet!

forever shawl

My Beloved calls this The Forever shawl.  The reason is that it contains two skeins of Mountain Colors lace yarn.  That is about 1500 yards.  And it took me about two years.  I started it at home but I took everywhere.  It went to an earth plaster workshop with me.  It has traveled across country.  It went to work.  I worked on it on and off for two years.  It is actually the same pattern as the red shawl that I posted about a few months back.  But a much lighter weight.

The body is single crochet.  I started with three and add two more every row.   It just took a long time to grow.  When I had used over three quarters of the yarn, I started the edging.  It is a five shell double crochet.  

I started with five double crochets, moved over two rows and put in two single crochets and then repeated.  All the way around.

I like how it turned out.  The yarn is a silk wool mix so even though it is very light.  It is very warm.  But then I do have the tendency to wear shawls!

african flower bag

I finally finished all the crochet african flower motifs and put them into a bag for the tall short person.  But I decided it needed a lining so it would not stretch out and that small things could not slip through the holes.

I had a clasp from a pair of boots.  The clasp did not really work very well with the boots but I like it on the bag.

I added a tassel.

And it is done!

I filled it with the pajama bottoms I made for her.  She likes the pictures of everything but so far she has not come and gotten anything.  It will be interesting to see what she thinks when she picks it all up.
