last hat for now

I finished the last hat for Mr. G.  There are a few more woolies that I am making for him but this is the last hat until he is bigger.

Two colors of cotton.  I really like this one because of how subtle it is.

I have a few more things to make for him but I have started lists for Christmas.  It is time to pick up yarns and get started.  Great for sitting when still trying to regain energy from long rows.  I need more distance stamina if I am going to be able to row to some of the state parks I wish to go to.  Only accessible by boat.  I know I am babbling.....  :)

bright green number 4

I hope Mr. G likes this hat.  I know his Momma will.  It is a bright green cotton.  A friend at work is due ten days after the Tall Short Person and I will probably make her baby boy a hat too.  They are just so easy and restful.  I drink a pot of tea and I have a hat done.

Hats have a tendency to be in Christmas stockings around here too.  I keep thinking I want a pair of mitts and working with all this yarn means it probably will happen soon.  I love the details on this one.  I really like how it turned out.

hat number 3

After I finished the hat from yesterday, I rolled up more yarn to make more hats.  This purply one I thought would be a top choice for the tall short person but she actually chose others to come first.

I think it turned out very nice.  Especially against white linen.  The crocheting is just very restful.

Tasty failure tonight in the cooking department.  I am working on a gluten free crisp but so far I do not have proportions right.  I think I had too much fruit so the crisp topping did not have a chance to crisp.  Either more crisp or less fruit.  But it was really yummy!  More experimentation is needed.  My Beloved likes this idea.

newborn hat number 2

Out came more yarns this weekend.  Actually, they are still out.  The tall short person picked which yarns to use for the next hat.  They are a cotton yarn from Cascade in sutble blues and greens.  In the right light, they just look neutral.

My Beloved and I were doing a Battlestar Galactica marathon while I was coughy and my hook was out.  I would rest and hold hands with him when I needed.

But in the end, the hat is done.  I think it is beautiful and even though you could say boy colors, it is not really.  It is the same size as the alpaca/wool one I posted earlier in the week but I think it has more stretch.  Mr G should be able to wear it longer.  That makes the tall short person happy.

Pixie hat number 1

While I was coughy this weekend, I started working on woolie goods for Mr. G.  As a first time Grandmother, I feel that is part of my role.  By the end of the weekend, I must have rolled a half a dozen skeins to get ready for knitting and crocheting.  I even went to a yarn store looking for new knitting needle sizes.  I did end up with new needles and new yarn but my old trusty hook came out.  Needing three different sets of needles (and sizes) for a project does not seem to make sense in my head.  Maybe it will when I am a better knitter.

The kettle was put on.  Tea was made and poured and I worked with my hook.

In no time, there was a hat for Mr G.  It is a alpaca and wool blend that will take him through the winter.  I will need to put more woolies in his stocking next year.

Not a bad way to spend a few hours on a coughy day.
