sometimes the hardest decision

I find the hardest decisions I have when making a quilt are what am I going to do for the back.  Mostly because it is a quilt in its own right as well.

But as I put a couple dresses together for the colder months, I got a quilt back done. 

Small steps right now are what are working best.  I had a friend who said it feels like it is time to hibernate and I find that is where my energy level is.  Work has been very demanding as well.  It is nice to leave it work and sit at my sewing machine with a quilt to back finished and an audio book to listen too.

Simple things are quite lovely.

I seem to be waiting for addresses lately.  As I was waiting for the address for L's quilt, I laid out another.  Every seam I sew, i work on a nine square.  Another form of prayer.  I am a chop wood, carry water type person.

It is all laid out.  The top is actually over halfway sewn this evening.  After work this week, I have been working on it.  Maybe quilting will start next week.  But an adventure that includes jazz has been mentioned and I keep thinking I should head to the beach.  I have been finding a bit of peace there.  There is a lot of sad going on.

This quilt does not have a home yet.  My Beloved has hinted/suggested that I should think about starting a shop and selling it.  It is a thought.

L's quilt

I spent afternoons last week listening to the end of audio books from our last trip to the mountain and working on binding L's quilt.

The little one is just starting to crawl so it will be sent at a good time.

I am very pleased with how it turned out.  And I have already started in on another! 

Quilting or beach time (hopefully surfing) will take place this weekend.

quilt top for L

The quilt top for L is put together.  Even with all the activities with all the boyos.  I would write down that list but it makes me very tired.  We were so busy last week.  It was hard to find quiet time for anything. 

Now, I need to finish the back.  My quilts really are two quilt in one....

antsy (and quiet)

I have some quiet so I can write.  Everyone else went off to the beach today while I went to work.  It means I came home to an empty house.  After one errand to run, I have some quiet for the computer and sewing.  I find with both boys, the only time there is any guarantee of quiet is when they are asleep.  When they sleep, I sleep.  I am a tuckered lady!

I have been a bit antsy lady.  Want to travel but know that is coming soon.  Not really my first choice but those come in fall and winter.  My Beloved was kind enough to drive out a ways to a fabric store so I could feel less antsy.  He did tease me a lot about buying new fabrics for quilts!  He made me laugh so hard!  But I really like what we chose together.  It is one of the main reasons I like him to come with me when I am picking out quilt fabrics.  It makes the selection much more diverse.

I also picked out a few dress fabrics.  I have already pulled five out of my closet.  They either do not fit just right or I do not enjoy wearing them.  One I pulled I still love but is horribly stained.  Are clothes not supposed to be Lady and Small Mister proof?  Just makes me sigh.  But I will enjoy the sewing.  Small Mister enjoys helping but that is helping only the way a 2 1/2 year can.  Very interesting!
