tailless bunnies

Last weekend I realized that next weekend is Easter.  Usually I am much better and not having Easter sneak up on me.  I was born on Easter Sunday and I could probably say it has been the only Easter service my Mom ever missed.  I could be wrong but it has not been many.  There is usually a very nice dinner involved too.  It is also my best friend's Mom's favorite holiday, even though she is Muslim.  So I have multiple reasons why I am aware of when Easter is.  This year it got away from me.  And this year I needed to send a box!

It was a weekend where I was not really leaving the house.  I had seen a tutorial for making bunnies from knitted squares.  I decided to do it with crochet.  I pulled out yarn I made and crocheted a base of 30 single stitches.  I just worked single crochet until I made a square.

Then I got out the needle and thread, a bit of spinning fiber and put the bunny together following the proportions on the tutorial.

I crocheted the ears by starting off with five or six single crochet.  I made the same number of rows and then decreased one until I was down to one stitch.  Two just like that!

I realized as I was looking at these pictures I fogot the tails!  Oh well.

They are in a box, traveling to Koda Bear and the Tall Short Person.  Even without tails they are awfully cute.

last planned shawl

I started my last planned shawl this week.  I know who this is going to, which is why it is planned.  I know I have months before I have to figure out another project that can be with me at work but I am pondering.  Do I take a sweater?  Do I take another shawl?  If it is a shawl, who do I make it for.

I have some sock yarn I was thinking would make a cool shawl.  Striped in a blue green and orange.  It would fit in my beach bag well.  I find no matter what the time of year, I like to have a sweatshirt in my beach bag.   A shawl would just be a nice addition because my hair always makes my back wet.  When I go to the beach with other people, there is a tendency to stop and eat on the way back.  No one seems to be very satisfied with my thermos of tea and pb&j.  Even if I add some cookies!  I guess I should not be truly surprised.

I am planning at being at my sewing machine today.  Dresses to make.  A quilt to finish.  The garden is much to wet to dig in.  I have a few errands to run, including picking up a wedding present.  Then it is off to an evening wedding.  I still did not find a plus one to go with me so I am off by myself.  Not a huge deal.

For Miss C

I finished another shawl at work. I push a button and wait.  While I do that I crochet.  1500 meters of yarn later and Miss C will has a shawl.  I just have to mail it.

It is a good size for keeping the neck and shoulders warm.  A bit of a throw over a dress.  She lives in Tennessee so there is that A/C thing going on during most of the summer.  Where you just need a bit of something to keep the chill off.

I have one more shawl to make for someone.  I pulled out my knitting because I realized it will never be finished.  I am thinking about making a stripped shawl with sock yarn.  Shawls are good for work because I do not have to pay much attention.

I just need an address now.

packed in something extra

When I packed the box for Mrs. V, I packed in this hat.  I made it with a bit of the leftover merino silk I had spun for her and  a bit of the yak silk I spun thinking I would have enough for a sweater.  Instead Nirinjan got a scarf made of it.  And Mrs. V got a hat.  I thought her husband Mr. C might like to have something that "matched."  We will see if Mrs. V lets it go.

off to the mailbox

The scarf for Mrs. V is done.  The yarn turned out well.  It was a merino wool and silk fiber that I found at SAFF.  It was a fun spin.  But then I think the crochet was a fun too.  Though I have to admit that I had to take this one out multiple times.  For some reason, I kept adding patterns to the rows.  But I have never minded taking out my work to make it right.  I am switching a knit sweater kit to crochet and there is a lot of  ripping out going on.  I find that is life with yarn.

I actually have started to miss making the scarfs I did for Christmas and February.  Koda Bear said he would like  scarf in blue so I may have to spin some yarn for him.  Then work on the scarf.  But then I still have a shawl and a sweater to finish.  A shawl to start.  Much, much fiber to spin.

There are just not enough hours in the day for all my projects.  Crochet.  Spin.  Sew.  Garden.  Printing.  But I do pick up my crocheting at work when I have to wait for a button push.  Life is pretty good.
