while I was working on Spikey's quilt

While I was working on Spikey's quilt, I was hand sewing the ribbing on this quilt.  For a small stuffed person and a small boy, machine stitching the ribbing is fine but otherwise, I hand sew.  This quilt supposedly has a home already but I am going to take it with me to the Maker's Market I am participating in the first weekend in April.  I am showing my quilts.  Guess what I am working on a lot right now.  Quilts!  I will have to see how it all goes.

It is fairly early to bed again tonight.  It has been that way all week but I am starting to be able to eat more then bits of bread, cheese, and fruit.  Though, today has mostly been vegetables and bread.

More quilts this weekend.  I have also had some huge disasters so I do not know what I will write about this coming week.  I had a friend who said he could not believe that I had disasters but that is happen when there is experimentation in the mix.

for Spikey to share with Koda Bear

When Spikey came to me for repairs, I went out and picked up some fabrics in Koda Bear's current favorite color:  red.  I made them a quilt to share that is about a third of the size of the quilts I normally make.

I did enjoy making it.  It felt so much easier then the larger quilts I make.

I like how it turned out and Koda Bear's comment was choice:  "It's red!!!!"  It is a nice size to take in the car with him or maybe sitting with a book.

And Spikey was fixed pretty well too.  There was a hole in his side and nose, that I fixed.  I had to remake his nose, a paw and an ear.  Embroidery thread and blanket stitch are my friend.

Both are home now and being loved.

I am still feeling pretty lousy.  I keep expecting to feel much better but it is a little bit at a time.  I almost fell asleep at 6:00 pm.  I might do that tomorrow.

pain, pain, go away. come again another day.

The bones in my hips have been grinding together for the last couple days.  The pain is better today then it was yesterday but it is still draining.  The humidity has gotten very high very quickly which is what I think is causing it.  I find the little bit I can sit at my sewing machine helps me take the mind off the pain.  Therefore, I make a lot of nine squares.

Before the pain hit so badly, just at its normal level, I laid out this quilt.  Yes, I am moving faster.  There may be a Maker's Market that I am invited to and I would like to try to sell some of my quilts.  It is both exciting and scary.  If I get even a little bit of stock, I was going to put a tab here with items for sale and start an etsy store.  Small steps I have wanted to take for sometime.

I also very much enjoyed making my Christmas tree quilt.  During my very slow walk yesterday, I thought about printing this picture or similar pictures on fabric and making them into quilts.  I know my parents and Koda Bear might really like one.

Yes, I really am walking still.  I try to keep moving because it means in the long run the pain will be less.  Maybe not today or tomorrow but soon.  I am just moving very slowly.  My walk took longer today then normal but it happened.  Last night I fell asleep before I could write between the pain, the day, and the walk.  But that is life with pain.  Sometimes sleep wins.

so tired

All the quilting is done for this quilt.  Just binding.  I have to admit that I am just trying to get through this week at work.  I hit a wall this afternoon and the tireds hit.  I am hoping it is just the front that is coming through.  I took a walk after work and the wind tried to blow me away.  Actually, that was a bit of fun!

Starting next week, due to the price of oil a barrel, I will be only working four days a week.  I am hoping it will allow me to recharge.  And do a bit more quilting.  There is a Maker's Market that I might try to sell a few things at.  We will see.

life with safety pins

After I got the piecing done, I really wanted to start quilting.  It helps to keep me sane because there is nothing sane about the part of my day or week that is called work.  Time to baste.  I laid the backing and the batting out next to my smaller open water row boat.

Then came the top.  This quilt is going to travel halfway across the world.  It will be gifted to a very little girl.  She has not been born yet.

A couple hours of working with safety pins in a bit of sun and I am ready to start quilting.  More time on my sewing machine.  More sanity.
